ScienceFiction.com reports that the FX series Nightbird that’s in the works will adapt one book per season, assuming it all comes together. You can read their story on their website.
Polish publisher Vesper has announced that they will be publishing a translation of Robert McCammon’s Speaks the Nightbird (book one in the Matthew Corbett series) sometime in 2020! This will be their first McCammon publication. Other publishers have previously published Swan Song and Boy’s Life in Poland in recent years. In the ’90s, Polish editions of Boy’s Life, Stinger, The Night Boat, They Thirst, and The Wolf’s Hour were published. You can see all of the covers for the Polish editions in the Book Cover Gallery.

Wolper Organization’s Mark Wolper, Kevin Matusow for The Traveling Picture Show Company, Shay Prentice and Kevin Nicklaus will produce.
The bestseller tells the dark and chilling tale about a witch-hunt in the seventeenth century Carolina colonies. The series centers around the main character Matthew Corbett.
Susco most recently wrote and directed Unfriended: Dark Web for Blumhouse and Universal, a film that premiered at SXSW last year. Susco scripted The Grudge and The Grudge 2, a highly profitable horror series for Sony.
Susco is repped by Verve.
That’s all the information I have about the project at this time. And it’s not a horror novel.
Russian publisher Azbooka-Atticus has acquired the translation rights for five Robert McCammon novels: Boy’s Life, Swan Song, The Border, The Listener, and Speaks the Nightbird. No word on when the books will be published, but I would guess the first will appear in 2019.
Czech publisher Classic published a translation of Speaks the Nightbird in July 2017. The cover has been been added to the Book Cover Gallery.
AudioFile Magazine’s Five Questions with Edoardo Ballerini, who brilliantly narrates the Matthew Corbett audiobooks. From the article:
“Robert McCammon’s SPEAKS THE NIGHTBIRD shows American colonial life in all its brutal glory. Edoardo’s perfect portrayals—a fire-and-brimstone preacher, a woman accused of witchcraft, a young magistrate’s clerk—earned him an Earphones Award and a spot on the Audies shortlist. This is a story of secrets and fear and a small community trying to set down roots in a strange new world.”
German publisher Luzifer Verlag has sent the cover art for the second volume of their translation of Speaks the Nightbird. Their title, Matthew Corbett und die Hexe von Fount Royal, translates as Matthew Corbett and the Witch of Fount Royal. The cover has been added to the Book Cover Gallery. Book two will be published in hardcover later in 2017.
Here are both covers by Michael Schubert. Click on a cover to view a larger image.
German publisher Luzifer Verlag recently published volume one of their translation of Robert McCammon’s Speaks the Nightbird. You can read more about Matthew Corbett und die Hexe von Fount Royal on the Luzifer Verlag blog. Volume two is planned for release in early 2018.
Luzifer Verlag has also acquired the German translation rights to The Queen of Bedlam (book two of the Matthew Corbett series) and The Border. It’ll be a while before publication details are available, but we’ll keep you posted as they happen!
